Light defines photo. Period. Use its potential, completely. It is directional, simple. So keep your photography simple to get the maximum advantage. Following example is to show how it can be little less than simple and fail getting due interest. Like too many good looking books in one shelf, you waste time in selecting than get max out of reading. Notice the arm of the spectacle is taking so much interest out of the actual point of interest, the face. KEEP IT SIMPLE!

What we see is not what a lens portrays on a sensor (or film). our eyes are more multi tasking. A lens at one focal length give one perspective only and can not like eyes and brain combined image, correct anything. We tend to see the world the way it is comfortable to us. We thus do not see a coconut tree through grasses on the ground. these two (perspective and angle) hence can be tools for a photographer to bring somethings new to our eye and brain's perception. They are tools for a photographer then. In the photograph below, low angle and a wide angle lens's non-human perceived image gives dead fish and boat nearby with clear sky and green grasses a look that we do not see. This angle and perspective alone brings a message of contrasting cruel world, nature's laugh and humane torture to it's own mother. We had a tip touching deep feel short trip in Rann of Kutch. Horizon looking at you from all 360 degrees is a shock for a city living fellow, Rann gives that with many things more. People are less, it is the land that overwhelms you showing true power of nature and true size of us, human, Ladies that I have seen wear mostly Black dresses, but some wear brilliant, bursting colours. Contrasting with general feeling of nothingness, their dresses are something. All the photographs are shot with Sony NEX3 with kit lens or a 16mmf2.8 lens.

Udaipur is a city in Aravali hills with history in its roots and on skin. Wherever you go, you can see time clock probably stopped some 100 or more years back. And today's effort is only putting lots of makeup at places where technology and business gets help. In attitude of locals, their words (quite less they speak though), gestures, dresses in some cases, walls of their houses, all the old palaces, alleys, night with bare minimum light sources will tell you how it always was. That's how geography plays with history. But if you want to know your world, your country, you must visit Udaipur. Kings there were probably didn;t fight much with outsiders as their palaces are intact and well kept (good for us, good for them).  The city now is quite polluted as you can see in the photo below 9taken from a hilltop temple Karni mata temple). Shanghai - I do not know Chinese meaning of this word, but to me Shanghai is a city of contrast. I got two chances to be in Shanghai

I repent selling my Pentax gears in a surge of anger. In one clean sweep my favourite zooms and primes are with someone else. Lenses that I researched and searched for so long and got them for so less money and then they performed so well that they eventually cost like jewels to me. NEX is good, but I think I am sorely missing view finder. even with an add on viewfinder, I still miss my dSLRs. All 17 or so that i had used so far. Below are some old shots taken with Pentax K20D and FA50f1.4 lens.    Life...that is life.

You need to think only sometimes. Do not require to act all the time. It is actually planning what you want to create. So, think about your photography. Composition, lines, curves - what they mean to you. Think, why you shoot photographs.
