Toranmal travelogue

If you still have your childhood fantasies and lathergies in you, visit Toranmal. It will give you your grandparents lap where you don't have to adjust places with others, do not have mandatory sight seeing as the whole sight will be yours.
You can roam around mountain as and when you wish without anybody's interfere, orders, NOs and should nots, because you know you already are responsible towards your grandparents, towards nature.

You can spend your whole morning watching that Geico, expecting its next move will be much later than your next yawn.

Infact the whole mountain range may be yours. As it was for us for two 24 hours.

When we were in the mid of the final rise to the Toranmal hill resort (Sheetal resort) we were washed by surprise gift, rain.

We were the only tourist in that range and in those tribal villages. A huge lake, some few resident houses, one mobile tower and a broken wind powered propeller greeted us.
Entire village, all the road was pristine, clean.
You will not hear any sound of human fouling cries, engine sounds. There are some crickets, bird chirping and the rest is vacuum like silence.
You are there with you, free, free with nature.

You will have the Yashvant lake of the size of ten football field, some boats for your ride, a waterfall (Sitakhai) a lotus lake, some wondering eyes of kids and busy villagers with their daily arduous tasks.

Toranmal was in my wishlist of places to be reached for last two years. Something or other was always restricting me.

You can take numerous walks in the mountain, hardly will you find villagers there as they are busy in their fields or are resting in homes.

Way down this road you will find the lotus lake, a more than 100 years old Pipal tree by its side.

If you walk there down that last serpentine turn, you will reach Sitakhai. You may find your god inside you there when you will be looking at the deep fall through rocks and the small river flowing some 100 feet down there.
I can feel my nature, my creator inside me when I look down on earth standing on top of its back. All gods must be feeling the same way.

You may come alone to feel alone with your self. soft grasses on hard rocks will tell you your destiny. you will be the creator of your own happiness.

I bet you will smile within and on your lips.

Toranmal is magical for kids in you.

Toranmla has so called Sunset and rise point. I went West only. East point had a temple and I didn't wanted to meet my elder ages in those two mornings. I went West in the morning as well when first ray of the day reaches thatched roofs in villages down below.

Toranmal has its share of power cuts. With or without lights, you still can see milkyway with your bare eyes if you walk a few yards upwards from your resort (there's one only, didn't I tell you?).

Our daughter wanted to have her first bonfire, so we had some warmth to have with dark sky and millions of stars.
One of those insects when jump make a sound with their wings, like a slapstick, twice or thrice in one jump. they were the only variations in sound on top of Toranmal. Once a cat joined us and left soon. We were not having any food at that time.

Photographs taken at night were without a proper tripod, please ignore technical faults that may seems faulty to you.

Contact number for toranmal Hil resort are 9422774075 and 9422286375.
They have around 12 rooms rent ranging from 800 to 1600.

Rabindranath and his songs, Rabindrasangeet is every Bengali's colour of their culture, essence of their values. Chennai has many Bengalis living their life in a different geographical and cultural world here. A group of people, friends had taken an initiative to sing Rabindrasangeet in a group, a large group rather, counting nearly 80. They will sing 20 songs all together, once, on stage. To do this, with so many members to be in sync, they are practicing for months. This session is one of them.

Kaas plateau - impossibly natural

You are lucky if you stay near Satara. If not, pack your camera, reach Kasara or Pune to reach this place. You will be welcome by a patient nature who did impossibly natural beauties there. We had hard time trying close our jaws and keeping our eyes open. Kaas is a flower land, a plateu full of varieties of flowers. They grow naturally, they live for a short time, like any other beauties. And the place keep on bringing new varieties within days. It all happens in June to October beginning, depending on temperature, humidity of the time. Lets stop talking or reading, start seeing the faint tr that me could through a mere light sealed box and lenses.
