Change is the only constant.......
We were friends for long. Quite long as I do not remember how we became friends. But I know we became friends for two common things. One is passion for photography and the second one is the subject of this post.
Pentax.
We are a generation who grew up with all things material and now living in a virtual world. So, when friendship started happening in internet, we somehow get connected.
We, who loves to take photo and loves to take it with anything that is made by Pentax. Selecting Pentax as a camera brand was for many reasons, all are apt for us too.
This friendship continued through mails, phone calls....mainly. We were spread out in India. Kolkata to Mumbai, Delhi to Chennai. Some of us could met each other being in the same city or state. Our small group grew by connecting points...our friendship grew too. why? I think mainly because we are about life and value money, which is why we all mainly chose Pentax instead of other two brands. I know others who do not use Pentax are like us only, but they just do not know about Pentax. I say, you do not know Pentax unless you hold it, use it.
Until now this friendship were mutual, non commercial, non sponsored, self supported. It will be like this way only. Yet something more happened. Ricoh bought Pentax. What Asahi Pentax, Hoya they all didn't do, Ricoh did. They thought of starting business in India. they opened their office, they found us. A group of people who use Pentax for long and are stuck together like friends in need, friends in deed. We all welcome Ricoh with a broad smile like an ultra wide angle lens, we hugged Ricoh like a Gorilla pod.
Now, Ricoh wanted to meet us, wanted that we meet each other. Hearing their proposal of a meet, we said, no way any of us are missing it.
Ricoh suggested we meet in Bengaluru for two days - one night trip, all expenses bore by them. we just have to land in Bengaluru. So we did. Rest is history.
Ricoh not only sponsored the meet, they arranged all the cameras & lenses that we want to try out, they gave it to us for two days. And we were like a group of kids among lots of toys, totally confused which one to try first and then which one, and then which one, and then... and then....
I chose to try Pentax FA31mm Ltd with a Pentax KX (borrowed from Santosh) for the temple and later. In between I tried Pentax 645Z with a 80mm lens in the temple and a 120mm lens in the jungle.
These are amazing... No one could even have thought of taking those small small things... Wonderful Sumanta Da and Reetika dear.. :-)
