Vadodara Photography Club

Vadodara, city of life, light and sound and culture. You can live life like seeing world through caleidoscope. There are eyes that see incidents and there are eyes that see life through incidents. I am in favour of the later ones. Most of the photographers change themselves to see more than an incident, they start seeing content, forms, shapes in a scene. Vadodara has so many of such photographers who came into limelight this month through their photography exhibition. Life has mostly become virtual, in there these photographers took advantage of this virtual internet life and materialize their dream to have a photographic community in virtual world and then achieve their dream of having an exhibition. I saw that exhibition on Saturday....it was not run of the mill exhibition with amateurish photos saying we are NEW. It was new, fresh and hobby like passionate. And I went back on Sunday to see them again and.................................to be a member of this society of pho...

Munich, a chance to see Europe

Living in Abudhabi was giving me MONEY. Was not giving me life. My life. I chose to change the coarse of my life and of my wife and daughter and our parents too in some way. Inflow of money reduced when I joined Linde in India, in a small city, Baroda or should always be called Vadodara. Like a Vad tree, it has kept its roots connected with culture. Women live here free like men, people do not mind if you do not know local language. No problem is a problem if you ask your neighbour for help. Vadodara is mostly like this. From here I got a chance to visit Munich. Company was open minded to give me NOC to take my family too. So, here we are in Munich, in search of Europe. There will be many posts seperately for various tours. This post is for my personal tries for street shots with my Nex and mix of lenses.  Konnig lake. Germans call lake as see, pronunced as Zae. St. bertholomeo church on Konnig see. Many more to come.

Basic of using a camera to take a photo

You have to know three basic things that control a photo. Light - Shutter and aperture control Film or sensor sensitivity Depth of field Shutter speed is like the time you allow your tooth paste to flow out. You know how much paste you want, you have control over the speed of the flow of the paste. Same way you control the amount of light that falls on you camera sensor. Aperture is like the opening of your toothpaste case. If you have bigger opening of the tube, you slow down your paste flow or vice versa. Because amount of your tooth paste is constant. So, for a same light, you can have same amount of light with different combination of shutter speed and aperture. You increase aperture one stop, you have to decrease shutter speed one stop. Then why we have so many aperture and shutter values. Different aperture give you different depth of field. Narrower opening give a lot of field in front of the camera in focus. Higher shutter speed gives you opportunity to freeze ...

Ramble in Tithal, a quiet sea beach in Gujarat

Life gives you...life and incidents. We choose whether to call them happy or sad experiences. We escaped from boring life and choose to live with less income in terms of money but be more rich with incidents. Tithal is our first sole outing post arrival in India. tithal is a normal town of India like any other town that is by the side of the sea. It though does not have typical houses of other beach cities like Daman, Alibaug, Karwar, Om beach etcetera. It has Black sand, muds yet to 3 of us it gave our first relaxing week end. We just sat by the beaches from 11 O'clock morning to 7 O'clock evening doing almost ....nothing. We talked a lot, listened to songs sitting in our car by the side of the beach for hours. Brishti played with sand, collected live crabs to make them her pet. She carried them home too. Our new asset, an used Esteem VXI proved to be a capable long run car. It is a fun to ride this car. It has quite an enjoyable engine and light body to accelerate fas...

Gift of time

Sometimes I get sad, for reasons, for myself too at times. I booked a lens through ebay from a seller living somewhere in Latvia. He took 7 days to send that lens post receiving my money. After all who cares once you get money. I had to leave Abudhabi as I was heading my home country. The lens arrived a week late from the day I left Abudhabi. I took help from my friends and almost 70 days post my payment, I got the lens through five countries and 7 friends. I was sad these last two months for the lens actually. I took 2 months to gather up money to buy one 80mm or such focal length lens to shoot my daughter and my wife to get results from the wonderful sensor of NEX. The lens is an 85mm f2 Jupiter lens. Silver finish 40 years old lens. I tried it with my NEX 3 with an M39 Leica mount adapter...hmmm it didn't focus. WHY? Because the lens is an M39 one but it actually is for an SLR, not for Rangefinder cameras. AAAAGH!!! I do not know why but while ordering that M39 Leica...
