What camera sees - you should know that

Do you agree that when you show the world your photograph, you actually show what a lens and the sensor in that moment captured? I guess YES , you know that. At the same time art is about expression. You express your feelings or whatever you want to say through your photograph, means through your lens and film/sensor. At a particular moment, a slice of a continuous movement may means something which exactly you want to say. May be that is not the actual movement was propagating, so what, that is your creativity, that is your art. To tell what you want to tell, you must know how your lenses see and represent what it see on the sensor/film. Here below are two sample photographs which shows, correct timing, correct lens, correct composition can say a fantastic story. These two shots are taken in a house where the participants were doing "puja" - a ritual in Hindu religion before they start staying in a new house. The priest is in the front and the family (which is we by t

NEX cameras...superb for street shots

Let's have a camera, small sized one, must have a superb sensor, compact and small enough flange to sensor distance to have adaptability for all sorts of lenses. Quite workable range of battery life is a add on to that. Quite cheap compared to similar specced dSLRs. Here are NEXs. And if you are clever, buy old NEXs. They come cheaper yet have sensor capable to shot clean 800 ISO images and wrokable 1600 ISO shots. Some samples here. I have a Pentax K 30f2.8 attached for all the below shots. Colour shot is there to prove it is good in colours too. Bottom line, have a camera which you can carry anytime (at the least most of the times). Enjoy life with it for capturing the life itself.

You and your camera

You need life for living, right? So does your hobby. how a camera can take photo if you do not make it to take some. So, carry one with you. You may have something inside to tell the world, you may have found something to share with your world. Bring them, grow them in your camera, shape them in your computer, give them a final life in your print or a in a web post. Live life of yours through you. You do what you want to do. I always thought about taking a barber shop's photo on my morning walk road. The barber come early, cleans his shop floor, chairs, put washed towel on the window and wait for his customers. This is life, waiting is life. I wanted to capture that. But was always shy to take his photograph. He knows me and I was sure he will find taking his photograph a bit awkward. One day I brought my camera NEX3 with a Pentax K30mmf2.8 with me. The moment I took the up to my shoulder, my friend ran moved away quite fast. Luckily the shop owner still didn't not

A small portrait session

I had a quick 1 hour photo session of a niece here. Had my beloved NEX3 and a Russian 85mmf2. Light says it all I say. What do you think? By the way I am seriously depending on NEX3 a lot now. I am quite liking it's sensor and still missing a view finder.
