Matheran - rain of colours

Mumbai has mechanical, steel, metal, regular, boring life.....waits for rain every year. This year it came but stay half hearted. Still it had its magic hand touching Mumbai and surrounding to change them. to change them like how a caterpillar changes to a butterfly. How a canvas changes to a painting. I wanted to show those colours of rain to our daughter. Our family friend Sumana/Sumitro and Anurag (their son) got us a chance. they came seeing us and came along with two room booked for a Saturday night in MTDC-Matheran. Here are some photos depicting Matheran the way I want to remember. Matheran of rain, droplets, pure colours, fresh air, Red earth and deep Green leaves. Mountain with fabulous Parrot Green grasses. I took first shot hear looking towards the train face to face, realized that there is a rickshaw going side by side. Instantaneously shoot it.

Bhandardara - Green lap mountain on lake

Bhandar means a bank of asset. And for many years Bhandardara remain to me as a place must see as it is a bhandar of beauty. Aks movie made it more luring. We generally go to places atleast once a month, and it was 3 months since we had our last tour to Jodhpur-Bikaner. Bhandardara has a dam on a lake. That was the starting point for our travel, but reaching there itself was a joy of travelling. Right companion, right music, right surrounding and superb breakfast started a superb outing. Bhandardara treated us with some testing (pot holed) routes and then gifted us those giant mountains with Parrot Green grass carpets. All Sahyadri in and around Mumbai suddenly changes self to a vibrant Green life. We had breakfast here. Our dependable Quanto C8 with all its bells & whistles and muscles. We could not keep driving when we saw this panorama. We qued for a group photo. And I lay my self on those mountains with my eyes. The view below is of Arthur lake from the

Deshnok temple - temple of Karni mata, blind faith and its power

We had been to a down memory lane trip. My wife used to live in Bikaner, and we had a long time plan to re-visit her old schools, places they stay and meet her friends (if possible). That story will be told some time later, but I was also interested to see Deshnok's Karni mata mandir while we were in Bikaner. Deshnk is 20 km before Bikaner if you are coming from Jodhpur. Devotees here believed that all those rats live here are devine. They are protected, offered food and status of god, literally. The prasad offered in this temple are first tasted by these rats. To protect them  from praying birds, the whole temple is covered with net. I was interested to see human being with this faith of worshiping rats. Entry to the temple - Rats inside the temple are well, everywhere. You have to be cautious to not put your feet on them. It is considered a ill fated act. One who kills a rat inside this temple is expected to payback in gold of the same weight of the rat to the temple.
