Life under Howrah bridge_IPF

Howrah bridge is there for people since 1943, 77 years till date it connects two cities, Kolkata (a.k.a Calcutta) and Howrah.

Almost an underground part of a life, Kolkata has different light below Howrah bridge, people who make their living there probably sees their life differently too. Life moves on where everyday, every second, something different is happening amidst mundane labourious life.

In the shadow of the huge bridge and its foundation on the Kolkata side, a flower market, related transport and other support systems brings daily workers, those who live there and customers together. With sharp contrasts between need and supply, less light and darkness, life struggles and shine like a diamond at times, a bit differently.

Filth and flower, light and darkness, hopes and anguishes intermingle everyday. Darkness brings uncertainty, life brings hope and the wish to fly through to the brighter end of the tunnel under the bridge is not for everyone. Some prefers the shadow, some has no other choice.

Amidst this mundane madness, this collection of images tried to show the human spirit of challenging the present, knowing certainly that it will not change in their lifetime hence accepting the fate. Knowing certainly that a short span of fun (with the help of local spirit) will have a long time memory of it. Ill effect is not so much important then.

To do this, with so many members to be in sync, they are practicing for months. This session is one of them.

KGL-Kashmir Great Lakes Trek

Whatever you say, Things to do before you die, Bucket list, must visit places on Earth...Kashmir remained in all those lists, for me. Then, I have a book, name Witness, a photo book of journalistic photo of Kashmir, images of Kashmir troubles. Interestingly, which the editor of the book also exclaimed, that there is no image of Kashmiri Hindus being fled or extracted from Kashmir. With this complex state of visions, news, anger, frustration, religious bias beneficiaries one thing remain same and true to my existance, that I have to see Kashmir. And I do not want to see tourist Kashmir, I want to see Kashmir as Kashmiris see.  Their, my first step or plan you can say is to have a trek to reach deep inside of Kashmir, where Kashmiris are with Kashmir and themselves. Hence Kashmir Great lakes happened.  Images, I want to speak for themselves, only when I want to say something more of my vision, I have added some notes on top of those images.
